This presentation will address several dimensions of fit between parent and child. Samples of questionaires tapping these dimensions will be provided for attendee's use for self and/or clients. Included will be the dimensions of temperament, personality style, coping styles, trauma history, parenting struggles, challenges and tasks. Attachment styles, stages of development and gender issues will also be included in the model of appraisal of the goodness of fit.
Participants will: 1) Gain an understanding of the concept of goodness of fit as it impacts the attachment relationship; 2) Identify several dimensions of fit between parent and child; 3) Learn to evaluate goodness of fit in self and/or clients; and 4) Apply new understanding of goodness of fit in the home and/or office.
